HOCL Sanitizer

At Viral Vendors we are gearing to fight the spread of Corona virus but in that fight we are mindful of the safety of our communities children and the impact our fight might have on the environment.

It is with this in mind that we recommend HOCL sanitizers as a proven CDC approved and SABS tested solution to both those concerns.

In short HOCL technology is based upon electrolysis, using only natural products such as water, electricity and a salt. The process separates oxidants and anti-oxidants, the oxidant water is referred to as Anolyte which is a potent microcode which kills all pathogens on contact. Anolyte is a tasteless and clear liquid and kills all bacteria, spores, viruses, algae, fungi etc.

We highly recommend this product for everyone but especially children's hand sanitizer, surface cleaning and sanitizing tunnel spray systems.

Here is the full Data Sheet:

The Technology

The Technology is based upon electrolysis, using only natural products such as available water electricity and a salt. The device produces separate oxidant and anti-oxidant solutions, which are completely biodegradable and not harmful to the environment when discharged into waterways and ecosystems

Electrochemistry describes the ability to generate an electric current from chemical reactions, while electrolysis describes the use of an electric current to bring about a chemical change in the electrolyte. In Electro Chemical Activation (ECA) of water, Anolyte and Catholyte solutions are produced separately due to separation of the anode and cathode by a selective permeable membrane.

In contrast to conventional electrochemical systems where chemical reactions always take place at the electrode surface, and where the chemical composition of the electrolyte in direct contact with the anode and cathode will be subject to predictable alterations, the objective of Electro Chemical Activation of water is to subject the entire volume of liquid in the inter-electrode space to an electric field of maximum possible intensity, with minimal chemical exposure possible and with minimal heat emission. The pure products of electrolysis are not commercially available as distinct chemical reagents and in the process of “electrolytic decomposition of water”, molecules and compounds are formed which don’t exist outside of the electrochemically activated water.

The REDOX or Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) can be determined on site and is an indication of the electrolytic potential or “efficacy “of the solutions at that time. The ORP is measured digitally and is recorded in milli-Volts (mV).

During electrolysis and Electro Activation (ECA) of water, two separate streams of OXIDANT and ANTI-OXIDANT streams emerge.

The OXIDANT water, referred to, as Anolyte is a biodegradable but a potent microcide, meaning it kills all pathogens on contact. The solution leaves no taint or taste and there are NO safety precautions and accidental over dosage is harmless as the concentrated solution may be consumed. No allergic reactions or eye protection is required.

The oxidant water is completely safe and has been approved by the Department of Health for the use on food destined for human consumption.

OXIDANT SOLUTION (ANOLYTE)

The oxidant solution may be produced at a wide range of pH’s, ranging from 2.5 to 9.5, depending on the specific requirements of the application. The ORP of the solution will vary according to the pH of the solution. At an acid pH, the ORP will measure approximately +1200 mV, and contain high levels of chlorine gas (Cl2), whilst at a high pH, the ORP will be lower, approximately +780 mV, consisting mainly of hypochlorite ion (OCl–). In between, at neutral pH levels (pH 5 – 7) the oxidant solution consists mainly of hypochlorite (HOCl), which is 80 – 90% more effective than hypochlorite ion.

ANOLYTE is microcidal, killing all bacteria, spores, viruses, algae, fungi and even some protozoa such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia. The method of killing can be described as ‘electrocution’, either by implosion or explosion of the cell wall of bacteria, depending on the cellular osmostic differential. This is in stark contrast to ‘poisoning’ by antibiotics or chemicals. No resistance by micro-organisms has to date been reported. ANOLYTE removes biofilm or slime from surfaces. This is important in cases such as indwelling catheters, exudate (pus) from wounds, water supply lines, and evaporative cooling systems. The ‘strength’ or Oxidation Reduction Potential or ORP of the solution is measured in millivolts and may be digitally recorded during production, for example in Food Processing. Tests to measure the efficacy of traditional chemicals or antibiotics cannot be conducted on site and are expensive. ANOLYTE is non-cytotoxic and safe. It can be applied topically to living tissue and is safe when inhaled when fogging or misting air spaces. The solution may be bottled or contained in IV bags and has a shelf life of >6 months. Anti-oxidant Solution CATHOLYTE is the trade mark used for this solution. CATHOLYTE is a potent alkali and has a pH value of 11 to 11.5. It is used for surface tension reduction, de-agglomeration and detergent in various processes and in medical applications. The ORP (- 850 mV) of the solution is not stable and can therefore not be bottled to be sold as an anti-oxidant solution.
